Green: The New Red, White & Blue

All are invited to watch the film and learn more about climate change and social justice

WHAT: The public is invited to a showing of the film Green: the New Red White and Blue. Award winning author and journalist Thomas L. Friedman travels the globe to unravel the tangled web of where Americans get energy, and reveals what viewers can do about their carbon footprint. Friedman visits the front lines of an energy revolution that is just taking shape, and reveals what is at stake for not only America but the world. Green: The New Red, White and Blue examines ways American families can change the world and have the same effect as global giants like Google and Texas Instruments. The film is 65 minutes in length and will be followed by a discussion.

Part of a national teach-in involving more than 1,100 colleges and other educational institutions across the country, "Focus the Nation" was organized to provide the public with the latest information on climate science and involve everyone in addressing climate change as the social justice issue of our time.

SWH Releases Recommendations for Town's Plan of Conservation & Development

Sustainable West Hartford has prepared a host of sustainability-focused recommendations for West Hartford's ten-year Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD), the document that will guide the town's land use, open space preservation and economic development decisions over the next decade.

Community Forum on Town's Plan of Conservation and Development

The West Hartford Town Plan & Zoning Commission is updating the Town’s 10-year Plan of Conservation and Development, a document that guides town leaders on decisions regarding land use.

You are invited to a Community Forum on Wednesday, January 16 at 7 PM at Town Hall, Room 400 to voice your thoughts, ideas, recommendations and questions.

Comments from this forum will guide the commission as it begins to draft a long-range plan on how land will be used in West Hartford for the next ten years.

A draft report will be shared at the following meetings scheduled for March 26 and May 14 at 7 PM at Town Hall, Room 400. Mark your calendar!
